Vatnajökull National Park - Iceland's gem

Mary and I were invited to visit Vatnajökull National Park to follow up on the growing relationship between the U.S. National Park Service and Icelandic authorities running the Vatnajökull Park.  That relationship is growing thanks to the hard work of both Icelandic and U.S. National Park personnel who have found many areas in which they can learn from each other.  This is possible in part due to a public-private partnership. In fact, ALCOA sponsored a group of Icelandic park rangers that recently visited several national parks in the United States. It is hard to describe the beauty and vastness of Vatnajökull. The first stop was the Western region of the park close to Kirkjubærklaustur where we saw the Fjaðrárgljúfur. See for yourselves
